Overview
In Davidson Mains, our clients lived in a property made up of small, boxy rooms that felt dark and disconnected. They dreamed of a brighter, open-plan space where the kitchen, dining, and living areas could flow together. To achieve this, an extension and modern redesign were the natural solution.
What Was Needed
The goal was to transform a dated layout into a spacious, sociable hub for family life. The clients wanted more natural light, a modern kitchen that became part of the living area, and better access to the garden. The budget of £75,000+ guided the scope of work, with a focus on creating maximum impact through smart design choices.
Our Approach
We extended the property to create a larger open-plan living space, integrating a sleek new kitchen into the design. To make the area feel bright and expansive, we installed wide bi-folding doors that opened directly to the garden and fitted a skylight to flood the room with natural light. Careful planning ensured the new layout balanced function with style, providing both everyday comfort and an impressive setting for entertaining.
The End Result
The finished project transformed a series of dark, confined rooms into one spacious, modern living environment. The new kitchen blends seamlessly into the open-plan layout, while the bi-fold doors and skylight connect the home to the outdoors and bring daylight deep into the space. What was once a collection of box rooms is now a light-filled, welcoming family hub designed for modern living.
